And the People Have Spoken

Obama the Prez

Now that we’re done with this whole election thing, I’m quite interested in watching President Obama’s story unfold.

Me too. I’m glad to be able to say I didn’t vote for him, but there’s a weird part of me that isn’t exactly disappointed he won.

    I mean I am.

    But I’m not.

What does it mean when you’re a waffling post-election citizen?

I’m still sad over his extreme position on abortion. All the more to pray for…

I kinda feel the same way, Megan. Just because I am so sick of dead-beat, compromising, apologetic conservatives. It’s like evangelism: you’d rather people would hate you than just be …dead…

    I don’t know. Maybe I’m just weird.

I agree that it is really interesting… I would never have voted for him, but on the other hand I wasn’t excited about McCain either.

Mostly I’m curious as to how effective he’ll be, and what changes he’ll make.

I am not pleased with it at all. But of course, we asked for it. I did not vote for him because God looks on our hearts and Obama is all for murdering children in the womb.

Obama is probably a really nice guy and all, but I think he will not give us a good change. A change, yes, from war and all that, but not a change that we need as far as small government and a chance at preserving life. I do realize that McCain was iffy. But I do know that God knows what we did as voters to make a difference whether it failed or not.

I am not interested in what Obama will do. I foresee a lot of rights taken away.

I think it’s really interesting how most people never asked themselves what this “change” we have been promised is. I’m not interested at all to see the change…I feel quite certain it will be a dangerous one. Or else he’s just a REALLY big liar (which is always possible with any politician). But its a good thing he is not our savior-God is sovereign and good and all things work together for the good of his believers!

It’s easy to get a bunch of divergent groups to agree on a candidate but another thing all together for them to be pleased with him as his term unfolds. History shows that to be a rarity. And President Obama has many different sorts contend with. I’m just wondering how long it will be until we know his actual agendas (not just the campaign version).

Honestly, it makes me feel sick to the stomach. I am so disappointed with the American people. This is a judgment on our country, and we deserve it. People have voted by their covetous hearts for socialism (stealing). I was just hoping we wouldn’t get what we deserve.

On the bright side Obama is just a president, not a king (imagine the drastic changes, say in England centuries ago, when a new king or queen a.k.a Bloody Mary, was on the throne). Jesus is still Lord and this is part of His plan, our job is simply to obey him in the callings He has given us to the best that we can, and with joy, trusting in Him.

I have to admit there was a small(very small) part of me that wanted him to win so the third party voters would realize just how bad he is…McCain wasn’t great, but I think Obama will prove to really be SO much worse. I’m just wondering what people are MOST excited about….higher taxes, socialized healthcare, less restrictions on abortions, or a reinstitution of the fairness doctrine?

This morning my husband and I where eavesdropping on our children, Payton our 6yr old daughter, Liev our 5yr old son, and London our 4yr old daughter, discussing the election of Obama. We have been teaching them about the elections and who the men are and what they stand for. Abortion seems to be the issue that has really stuck with our kids because this is how the discussion went around the breakfast table.
My son asks me, “Mamma, who won the election?” “Obama did dear.” “Oh no is he going to come kill me!” “No dear.”
(From there the kids carry on together.)
Liev- “I hate Obama, he kills children!” London- “Me to. I’m glad he doesn’t know where we live!” Payton- “He won’t kill you guys, just the babies in mamma’s tummy”. (I don’t actually have a baby in my tummy.) London- “Oh good!” Liev- “I hope mama doesn’t get a baby in her tummy or Obama will kill it, I hate Obama, I’ll kill him if he kills me!”

Is this what God means when he tells us to be like little children. I love my kids and I hope they will always see sin this clearly…and yes we did have a discussion about saluting the uniform and respecting our God chosen President after this talk.

    Crystal,
That is much like how our discussion went between my four and six year-old! And I was thinking how simple all things are in a child’s eyes - there just isn’t any grey area for them.
They have not yet come around to wanting to pray for the man, but that is a lesson in itself, isn’t it?

I must agree, I am very interested to see how the next 4yrs. go. The Democrats have such big plans and so many “changes” their ready to make, I’m also very interested to see how all this works out…My husband and I wrote in Ron Paul for out vote. We’re praying we sent a message to the Republican party that we want someone who truly represents our party! A true Conservative Republican who sticks by their Godly convictions! I didn’t want to feel guilty about choosing between the lesser evil, again! Like in the race with Bush & Gore. God be merciful to His children these next few years!

elizabeth: I was trying to figure out whether third party votes made a difference. It looks like they didn’t?

For some reason, I’ve felt a strange sense of peace. I’m not always good at remembering this, but knowing about God’s sovereignty and His promise to always do good to me has really helped me.

That, and remembering that this is something that is utterly and completely out of my hands(now that it’s post-election)…no point in worrying over something like that.
