Joanne,
I would be happy to help direct your questions about first-grade curriculum to someone who could help you much better than I can, and that is Logos School, where my children went k-12. They have many materials available and here's their website: http://www.logosschool.com/
Many blessings,
Nancy

Here in the hot and humid Deep South we can play outside almost all winter long, but these summer months are times for hiding indoors with the A/C blasting! We school through the summer and take some fall and winter months to enjoy being outdoors.

Mrs Wilson,

We are preparing to start homeschooling our two oldest sons in first grade and have some questions regarding the best curriculum etc. Would it be possible for you to email me if you have time so I can be a little more specific in both the details and our questions? I know that I'm a total stranger so if you don't want to, that's fine :-)

Thanks!
Joanne

Ps. The snow looks quite nice from here! But... I don't have a garden or flowers to watch being frozen to death.

Sarah,
Funny how I've kept remembering that comment as well! But let's be fair. Winter doesn't REALLY begin until the end of October (if we are lucky). So cheer up! That is still four and a half months away....

Actually, I do remember snow on Moscow Mountain in August....back in 1980....we were newlyweds of two weeks and packing up to move to Alabama for the coming year. I remember arriving in beautiful, but hot and humid, Birmingham wishing for some of that cold white stuff that we left back in Idaho! =)

This is a great photo; it's wallpaper on the computer for today! We had snow in Spokane but it disappeared as it landed.

I enjoy hearing the gasps around here (California) when I say that I've seen snow in Idaho in every month of the year, save August.

Hopefully that snowmelt will make a great slip-and-slide for the weekend!

My sympathies to the owner of the tricycle!

We had snow here last week too which was a bit of a novelty, as it doesn't often snow here in winter. ('Here' being Christchurch, New Zealand) But at least June is supposed to be cold for us!

My daughter called me today on her way home from teaching a women's Bible study. She said it has reached 98 degrees where she lives and they think it is the end of the world (that was without humidity).

We live in the Midwest so she remembers some very hot summers growing up. We never had snow in June, though.
