That is really interesting and different. I think he's really on to something. Sometimes when I pull in the driveway after doing some errands, the children come swarming out of the house to me before I can even catch my breath and get out of the car. My husband has commented that to our younger children I am the center of the universe.

"Look at them with the widest eyes you can manage, and don’t be ashamed to be seen at wonder. You will not see their like again. What a shame if they should leave without ever knowing they have been beheld and offered up by an astonished heart.”
What a beautiful thought for a Father or a Mother! I can hear them outside now, I'm headed off to wonder at them. : )

"Be ready to be done by and to welcome their casual effusions with something better than preoccupation and indifference." This sent an arrow through my heart because I have been so convicted of late of how often I am preoccupied with something when the kids want to play, or talk, or ask me questions, etc. etc.

I know I always end up doing a lot of confessing of sin in my comments, but I can't help it. I am absolutely moved to do so. Your writing always drives me there. And you know what? I am not ashamed of it one bit, I praise God that He uses your writing to beat me over the head sometimes. :-)

Yes, it does sound like sterling stuff. I've just ordered B&B...along with an accidental extra, so if anyone in Moscow wants a copy, I'll be selling one. for about $10. :-)

Thanks also, because I'd wanted to get Supper of the Lamb ever since Brendan reviewed in Credenda, months back...but I forgot.

Father Capon is great! By the way, you can purchase signed copies of a few of his books--including "Supper of the Lamb"--at the Capons' <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/shops/index.html/103-0402139-3988659?ie=UTF8&sellerID=A1CMJ2AX55DLQ5" rel="nofollow">Amazon Bookstore.</a> Unfortunately, they don't offer "Bed and Board." That one is hard to come by, though I see there are a couple of used copies <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000NXT8HK/ref=dp_olp_2/104-7542981-5261553?ie=UTF8&qid=1193508561&sr=1-16" rel="nofollow"> here.</a>
